Hard Rock Bet Crosses the Border, Launching in Ontario

Hard Rock Digital has officially crossed an international line for the first time. On Wednesday, the company switched on Hard Rock Bet in Ontario, giving Canadian bettors and casino players access to the brand’s mobile sportsbook and online casino for the first time. It’s a milestone moment for a company that had, until now, kept its digital footprint entirely within US borders.

The launch follows an operating license granted by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, effective mid May, and it lands Hard Rock Bet in its 11th real money market overall. More notably, Ontario becomes just the third jurisdiction, after New Jersey and Michigan, where Hard Rock offers both a full sportsbook and an online casino side by side.

Players in the province can now download the app on iOS or Android, or log in through a desktop browser at HardRockBet.ca. The online casino arrives loaded, with more than 3,000 games spanning slots, table games and live dealer titles from a range of software providers. On the sports side, the platform supports parlay wagering across international sports, running on technology from Playtech, which also holds a minority ownership stake in Hard Rock Digital.

The company isn’t treating this as a simple software rollout. Hard Rock has built out an Ontario based marketing team and stood up 24 hour local customer support ahead of launch. New casino customers get a welcome offer of 200 bonus spins on Sweet Bonanza with a first deposit of $10 or more, along with up to $1,000 back in casino bonus funds as a lossback on net cash losses during their first 24 hours of slot play.

What sets Hard Rock apart from a lot of newer entrants is that it isn’t starting from zero in Ontario. The company already runs a Toronto office employing roughly 200 people across its corporate operations and its Hard Rock Games social casino division. More importantly, it owns and operates Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa, a $350 million property that opened its doors in July 2025 and has quickly become one of the province’s more prominent land based venues. That physical presence puts Hard Rock in rare company. It’s now one of only three Ontario operators with a tied brick and mortar casino, joining Caesars Windsor and Mohegan’s Fallsview Casino Resort and Casino Niagara pairing.

That connection between the physical and digital sides of the business is being built directly into the loyalty program. Unity Points earned through play on Hard Rock Bet can be redeemed both on the platform and at the Ottawa casino, giving the company a retention tool that purely digital competitors can’t easily match. Christine Crump, president of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa, framed the launch as an extension of what the property has already built with guests, saying the casino’s reputation for bringing people together now stretches beyond its physical doors.

Marlon Goldstein, executive managing director and CEO of Hard Rock Digital, described the moment as “the first time we’ve brought our platform to an audience outside the U.S.” He pointed to investment in local talent and partnerships as central to how the company wants Ontario players to experience the brand. That local push includes a collaboration with Canadian artist Choclair, who remastered his track “Let’s Ride” for the launch campaign, a nod toward building genuine ties in the market rather than just importing a US product wholesale.

Hard Rock Bet now enters a genuinely crowded field. Ontario’s iGaming market has grown into one of the most competitive regulated environments in North America, with dozens of licensed operators already fighting for market share, including established names like FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM and bet365. Coming in as a later entrant means Hard Rock has to convince players to switch from services where loyalty habits are already set, though its physical casino tie in Ottawa may give it an edge that online only rivals simply don’t have.

The bigger question hanging over this launch is what comes next. Alberta opened its own regulated iGaming market on July 13, becoming the second Canadian province to allow private operator licensing, and competitors like Caesars and PointsBet have already moved to secure licenses there. As of this week, Hard Rock Digital had not registered as an operator in Alberta and has made no public comment on its plans for the province. Given the company’s stated interest in expanding its Canadian footprint, Alberta looks like the logical next step, but for now Hard Rock is focused on establishing itself in Ontario before deciding where to go next.
